Our ambition

We're determined to make Islington fairer. To create a place where everyone, whatever their background, has the opportunity to reach their potential and enjoy a good quality of life.

We also have an ambitious goal – to be the best council in the country – with every employee clear about the part they play and inspired, focused and supported to give their very best.

We want to build an organisation where employees feel valued, inspired and empowered to help us achieve our goals and provide the best services possible to our residents.

Our values and behaviours

‘Be Islington’ is about setting a clear challenge about what it means to be an Islington employee and sets the standard for every new recruit.

We ask our employees to ‘Be Islington’ – playing their part in working together for a fairer borough and to always be collaborative, be ambitious, be resourceful, and be empowering (‘CARE’).

Fostering Recruitment and Assessing Social workers

Two exciting opportunities have become available to join a creative child centered fostering recruitment and assessment team in Islington.

Children are at the heart of everything we do. We are and continue to embed trauma informed practice and motivational interviewing with dyadic developmental practice.

In order to meet our vision, we aspire to develop a workforce that is therapeutically trained and supported, motivated, aspirational and highly skilled, who have the best interests of the children at the heart of everything they do.

We are looking for enthusiastic social workers who share our vision and are passionate about supporting our families/carers in providing safety and stability for children.

As recruitment and assessment social workers you will be recruiting and assessing foster carers and will be involved in further development of schemes such as our family based short breaks scheme for children with disabilities and learning difficulties.

You would work alongside experienced and supportive colleagues in the team to raise awareness in the community, facilitate information sessions for residents within and outside of Islington and facilitate training with foster carers for prospective foster carers interested in becoming foster carers.
